Last chance to make a submission to the Auckland Plan
You still have time to send an electronic submission to the Auckland Plan. Submissions close at 4pm tomorrow. The link below shows you how to send it.
The main points of the SOS submission are outlined below. You are welcome to use these as the basis for your submission.
- St Heliers has been identified in the Auckland Plan as having limited growth opportunities but the plan says nothing about its special character as a seaside village. The character of St Heliers must be protected.
- The Auckland Plan must make it clear that essential development controls will be necessary along with design criteria in achieving world-class liveable villages. Planning controls must be strengthened.
- Height limits for character villages should be differentiated from those of other local centres. To maintain the character of St Heliers Village a height restriction of less than 9 metres is critical.
- “Making Auckland the most liveable city in the world” means ensuring that people feel connected to where they live. For this to happen communities must have a say about their local environment. To do this they need to know what development is planned. All developments in character villages must be notified.
